Filezilla is free open source FTP (file transfer protocol) solution available to download from filezilla-project-org. both in client and server version. To install wordpress with filezilla download the client version because it let you to transfer files from local computer to remote server and vice versa. It offers lot of features compared to other file transfer protocol as it is easy to use and available in multiple languages. Drag and drop, ipv6, resume and large files, network configuration wizard and remote file editing are the main features of open source filezilla. You can install wordpress, wordpress themes and plugins directly from filezilla. Below is the detailed information about how to install wordpress theme using Filezilla FTP client.
First Step:
First go to http://filezilla-project.org and download latest version of filezilla client (all platforms). you have already downloaded the latest version of wordpress so, extract it!
Second Step:
Open filezilla and select site manager from left hand file tab.
Click new site below of next window and configure your settings.
you will find this information in your web host c panel.Find FTP manager in your c panel and create FTP account if you have not already. The same FTP user name and password will be used here. See below
Under general tab you should have the option of host and FTP information.
Host: It is the domain name of your website e.g
google.com
port: 21 or leave it blank.
Protocol: FTP-file transfer protocol.
Encryption: Use plain FTP.
Now your FTP Information required:
Logon type: scroll to normal.
User: your FTP user name that you have in your webhost c panel.
Password: Your FTP password.
Account and comment: leave it blank.
Now you have made your general setting to told Filezilla about your server information where to upload wordpress. The next step is to inform filezilla about your local folder where you have wordpress in the extract form. So, click on advance tab, next to general tab and configure it.
Server type: Default.
Bypass proxy: leave it unchecked.
Browse and select wordpress from your computer.
Leave other information as it is.
Now click on Connect.
If all of your information you enter in general and advance tab is correct filezilla will connect with your server successfully otherwise it will show error message on the top right with red text.
Third Step:
From the left hand pane click on any file and then press ctrl+a to select all and drag whole selected files in the right hand pane. Filezilla will start upload your files from local folder to remote site. It will take few minutes to end this process. When you successfully installed wordpress then forward to next step.
Fourth step:
Wordpress configuration:
Type your website url in address bar and you will see wordpress window configure its required information.
Click submit.
Now click install wordpress and you are Done!
